Foundation in the Book Arts
For
monastics, literacy and collection, care and preservation of books, the
Bible in particular, have always been foundational to their spiritual
identity and to the work and prayer of their daily lives. In the spirit of
that tradition, Saint John's University sponsors The Saint John's Bible
and the following programs:
-
The Hill
Museum and Manuscript Library represents one of
the largest, most comprehensive archives of Medieval and Renaissance
sources in the world.
-
Arca Artium is a distinctive collection of over
40,000 reference books, prints and other works with emphasis on book and
liturgical arts.
-
The Rare Books Collection includes over 4,500 books
from the 19th and 20th centuries.
