Title: To the Ends of the Earth
Image # K3Act27
The Saint John’s Bible
Volume: Gospel and Acts of the Apostles
Artist: Donald Jackson

“To the Ends of the Earth” is a special treatment at the end of the Acts of the Apostles. "You will be my witness in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria and to the ends of the earth.” Acts 1:8. This illumination completes the volume of The Saint John’s Bible containing the four Gospels and the Acts of the Apostles.

Donald Jackson, artist and calligrapher, has chosen the image of earth as seen from space as a contemporary interpretation of our place in the larger world. The cosmos, although understood differently today than in medieval times, continues to fill us with wonder and awe.
