Tyler Museum of Art

The Tyler Museum of Art in Tyler, Texas was the third host for the traveling exhibition of Illuminating the Word.  The city of Tyler is located about  100 miles east of Dallas.  The museum boasts an extensive collection of works by some of Texas' best known artists.  It also includes several works by other American artists, such as Albert Bierstadt and James Brooks.  The collections are primarily 19th and 20th century, though recent acquisitions have included 16-17th century European paintings.

The Saint John's Bible exhibition complemented the museum's goal of providing the area with a rich and culturally diverse visual experience for visitors, educators and students of all ages.

The exhibition took place June 8, 2006 - September 3, 2006.  Gospels and Acts, Pentateuch, and Psalms were the featured volumes at Tyler.
